Edwin Chavez Garay, 25, and Jairo Diaz Gamez, 27, were arraigned Tuesday, Aug. 4 in Central Islip federal court, the Justice Department said.

A Long Island teenager accused of sexual activity with a dog is expected to face additional criminal charges, officials announced Wednesday, Aug. 5.
Zachary Carlisle, 19, of Mastic Beach, was first arrested Thursday, June 4 and charged with sexual misconduct and sexual performance by a child offenses, according to the Suffolk County SPCA.
But a longer investigation has led to more charges against Carlisle, which will be revealed at a news conference on Thursday, Aug. 6, the SPCA said in a press announcement.

A gas pump exploded at a public office in Albany on Tuesday, Aug. 4, sending two employees to the hospital, authorities said.
Wayne Brennan, a 62-year-old Albany firefighter, was airlifted to Westchester Medical Center for treatment of severe burn injuries, according to the Albany Police Department and his family.
He was treated at the hospital’s intensive care unit for second- and third-degree burns, according to his mother, Sharon Brennan.

Shannon Priest, 36, of Water Mill, collided with a pole at the intersection of Flying Point Road and Seven Ponds Road in Water Mill around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 4, the Southampton Town Police Department said.
