Man Shot In Newark: Police A man was shot in Newark on the evening of Saturday, June 16, authorities said. At 7:33 p.m., officers responded to Van Vechten Street near Hanford Street and found a man who had been shot, Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Fragé said. The man was transported to a nearby hospital and is in stable condition,  Fragé said. The shooting remains under investigation.

Victim ID'd In Fatal Newark Shooting In Park: Prosecutor A 25-year-old Newark resident has been identified as the victim in a fatal shooting on Thursday June 13, authorities said. At 9 p.m., Newark police responded to Boys Park at Sussex Avenue and Duryea Street and located Raymeer Tarver suffering from gunshot wounds near a basketball court in the park, Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens, II and Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Frage said.  Tarver was taken to University Hospital and pronounced dead soon after, Stephens and Frage said. The investigation is active and ongoing, Stephens and Frage said.

Clifton Orthopedic Surgeon Illegally Dispensed Oxy: Feds A 72-year-old orthopedic surgeon in Clifton recently pleaded guilty to illegally prescribing pain pills to patients, authorities said. Evangelos Megariotis, who worked at Clifton Orthopedic Associates according to his Linkedin, admitted to unlawfully dispensing Oxycodone, Oxycontin and Oxycodone-Acetaminophen to five patients, US Attorney Philip Sellinger said.
