Drunk Driver Takes Out Pole, Parked Car, And Fence In Late-Night Suffolk County Crash: Police
A drunk driver on Long Island hit a utility pole, a parked car, and a rail fence before coming to a stop in a crash, police said Tuesday, Sept. 8.
Laura Ortiz Lozano, 29, of the Bronx, was arrested following the wreck on Shelter Island late Sunday, Sept. 6, the Shelter Island Police Department said.
Cops responded to the scene around 11:50 p.m. Sunday to a report of a car accident in which one vehicle “struck a utility pole, a parked vehicle, and split rail fence,” Shelter Island police said.

Teen Selling Weed, Flavored Vapes Out Of LI Gas Station Arrested: Police
A Long Island teenager has been arrested for selling weed and flavored vape products from a storefront, police said.
Amritpreet Singh, 18, of Elmont, was busted Tuesday, Sept. 8 for slinging the items from a Valero gas station on Franklin Avenue in Valley Stream, the Nassau County Police Department said.
Officers observed “a large quantity” of flavored vapes, Kratom, and THC products available at the store and arrested Singh around 5:20 p.m. Tuesday, authorities said.

A Long Island based food manufacturer has recalled numerous products due to listeria concerns, officials said Sunday, Sept. 6.
Made Fresh Salads Inc., of Bay Shore, recalled dozens of its ready-to-eat deli-style salads and cream cheese products, the Food and Drug Administration announced.
Inspectors found the disease-causing bacteria listeria monocytogenes at the company’s facility, which sparked the recall, according to the announcement. Listeria infections can cause fever, chills, headache, diarrhea, nausea, muscle and joint pain, and fatigue.

A Long Island driver was killed in a one-car crash early Tuesday, Sept. 8, police said.
Matthew Schneider, 26, of Selden, was driving a 2018 Chevrolet Express eastbound on Express Drive South near Maple Avenue in Holbrook around 3:10 a.m., the Suffolk County Police Department said.
Schneider’s vehicle left the road, struck a tree, and overturned, investigators said. However, the wreck wasn’t reported until a passing motorist called 911 around 5:30 a.m., police said.

A Long Island man assaulted a woman, pushed an 8-year-old boy, and injured a 5-year-old girl in the same incident, police said.
Max Beltre, 27, of East Hampton, was charged with third-degree assault and two counts of child endangerment following his arrest around 2:45 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 5, the East Hampton Police Department said.
At an East Hampton home, Beltre threw a cellphone charger that struck the 5-year-old girl in the face, police said. Beltre then attacked the girl’s mother, first pushing her and then repeatedly slamming a door on her right hand, investigators said.
