An area resident who was charged with vehicular manslaughter after crashing into a utility pole and killing his passenger was arrested, then caught planning an escape to another state, said police.
Ulster County resident Daniel Kellogg, of Saugerties, 22, reportedly crashed his 2000 Honda Accord into a utility pole on Route 9W in the area of the Sunoco at nearly 1:30 a.m. on Wednesday, April 22.

Police: Stolen Car Driver Surrenders, Then Attacks Wallington Officers
A Newark woman caught behind the wheel of a stolen car urged police to arrest her, then later turned on the officers, authorities in Wallington said.
It began when a witness at the Sunoco station on Locust Avenue pointed Officer Szymon Popek toward a rental car with heavy front-end damage, Capt. Shawn Kudlacik said.
The driver, identified as Jasmine Fletcher, 27, of Newark, got out of the vehicle after Popek stopped her moments later, Kudlacik said.

Police Asking For Public's Help Identifying Alleged Armed Robber
Police are asking the public for help identifying a man wanted in connection with an alleged armed robbery.
The incident took place around 1:20 a.m., Sunday, March 1, at the Sunoco gas station in the Town of Newburgh, located at 69 North Plank Rd.
During the robbery, the suspect, described as a black male, about 5-foot-10, medium build, entered the store and threatened the attendant with a knife while demanding cash, said Town of Newburgh PD Lt. James Nenni said.
