HOLDEN, Mass. - Shrewsbury's Sarah Campos scored the game-winning goal as the Colonials' girl soccer team defeated Wachusett Regional on Monday night.
With the win, Shrewsbury stays atop the Mid-Wachusett A league, improving to 6-1 on the season and a perfect 4-0 in league play. The Mountaineers fall to 3-2-1 and 1-2-1 in the Mid-Wach.
With 12:44 remaining in the first half, the Colonials' Kayla Shea sent the ball into the six-yard box on a corner kick. Campos quickly chipped the ball past Wachusett's goalkeeper Casey Blakeney, securing Shrewsbury's fourth league victory.
The Colonials outshot Wachusett, 12-7.
Shrewsbury's goalkeeper Devinne Zadravec earned the shutout, making six saves, while Blakeney tallied eight stops.
The Colonials return to action on Saturday, Oct. 1, traveling to Shepherd Hill for a non-conference match at 3 p.m. Wachusett's next game is scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 27, at North Middlesex, starting at 4 p.m.
