FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - The New England Patriots opened their 2012 training camp to record crowds this weekend as people from all over the region flocked to Gillette Stadium to welcome the prelude to football season.
Optimism is high as well as expectations for this group under head coach Bill Belichick since they lost the Super Bowl to the New York Giants in February. The Daily Voice heard from many residents this week about residents planning to attend but it was nearly impossible to find anyone in the crowds.
Official attendance on Thursday was announced as a record 12,169, which was less than Friday's 13,500. Huge crowds were also reported on Saturday and Sunday.
