Holden All Stars Win 9-10 District Title

HOLDEN, Mass. — The Holden 9-10 District Team came away from the baseball field victorious on Sunday morning, after defeating Paxton 13-8 to win the District 4 9-10 All Star Championship.

Holden, which lost its first game to Paxton, won five straight games to secure the championship.

After trailing 8-4 with two outs in the bottom of the fifth inning, the Holden team staged a nine-run rally to take a 13-8 lead. Sean Gardner closed the game with a 1-2-3 6th inning.

On offense, Holden was helped by timely hits from Asa Floyd, Brain Carlson, Sam Pedone, Matt Verrier and Francis Ferguson. Defensively, great plays by Brian Carlson, Ben Goselin and Asa Floyd kept the game close during the early innings.

Holden plays next on Tuesday, July 10 at Jack Barry Field in Worcester against the District 1 winners from Western, Mass.
