NORTHBOROUGH, Mass. - Algonquin sophomore defender Connor Henry netted two goals for the boys soccer team, as the Tomahawks defeated Wachusett Regional, 4-0, on Tuesday night.
With the victory, Algonquin (5-0-0) remains perfect this season with its fifth-straight victory, while the Mountaineers fall to 2-2-0 on the year.
Just five minutes into the first half, senior midfielder Brendan O'Reilly scored for the Tomahawks on a pass by senior sweeper Colin Sweeney.
After taking a 1-0 lead in the first half, the Tomahawks struck again less than four minutes into the second stanza, as Henry netted an unassisted goal.
At the 29:00 mark, freshman midfielder Tyler Morin scored Algonquin's third goal of the game, assisted by senior midfielder Mark Perrault.
With less than 22 minutes remaining in the game, Henry recorded his second goal of the game on a pass from O'Reilly.
Algonquin finished the game with eight shots on goal, while the Tomahawk defense kept the Mountaineers from getting one attempt on net.
The Tomahawks will play at home for their next match, hosting North Middlesex on Thursday, Sept. 22 at 7 p.m. Wachusett returns to action on Monday, Sept. 26, playing at home against Shrewsbury at 5 p.m.
