HOLDEN, Mass. — This Saturday, Holden residents are invited to once again hit the cross-country course behind Wachusett Regional High School for the 6th Annual Brian Wallace Wachusett Alumni Race.

Holden resident Kendra Leith has organized the alumni race for the past five years, with the event celebrating the career of longtime track and cross-country coach Brian Wallace.

Wallace made an impact on countless Wachusett runners before his retirement and, in the spirit of the school's cross-country races, the 5K is run at Wachusett on portions of the cross-country course.

The race also is in memory of Joe Riley, a 2007 graduate of Wachusett killed in an automobile accident after his freshman year at Assumption College.

Proceeds from this year’s race will benefit the Wachusett Food Pantry, as well as the school's cross-country teams.

Whether current students, former Mountaineers or just residents eager to take to the trails for a little post-Thanksgiving race around Holden, all are invited to register for event.

Registration will run from 8 a.m. to 9:50 a.m. Saturday at Wachusett Regional High School, with the race beginning at 10 a.m.

To register online, the website is www.wallacealumnirace.com
