WORCESTER, Mass. — After snatching a poodle from a child's arms, a Holden woman and Worcester man were arrested Friday, police said.
Firas Zein, 33, of 21 Cutler St., Worcester, and Catherine Zein, 25, of 605 Shrewsbury St., Holden, were charged with unarmed robbery.
A woman on Cutler Street flagged down a police officer at about 6:40 p.m. Friday, June 29. Two people went into her family’s backyard on Oscoela Avenue and grabbed their poodle out of her 7-year-old daughter’s arms, she said.
The woman followed the two people to Cutler Street in attempt to get the dog back. The police located the suspects in the area. Later identified as Firas and Catherine Zein, the suspects told police where the poodle was, and the dog was returned to the owner unharmed.
Further investigation revealed an ongoing dispute between the victim and the suspects.
In addition to the charge of unarmed robbery, Firas Zein also had an outstanding arrest warrant on a restraining order violation.
