STERLING, Mass. – Ruth A. (Thomas) Calcia, 96, died peacefully on Friday, Oct. 19, 2012 at UMass Memorial Healthcare-University Campus, Worcester. She is predeceased by her loving husband, Ernest A. Calcia and her adoring son, David E. Calcia.
Ruth is survived by her devoted daughter, Peggy L. Charette and her husband Steven of Holden; her daughter-in-law, Jeanne Calcia; five grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, two great great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Ruth is also predeceased by seven brothers and sisters.
Ruth was born in Sterling, the daughter of Nellie (Brown) and Michael Thomas, and lived in Sterling for most of her life.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 24, at the Miles-Sterling Funeral and Tribute Center, 100 Worcester Road (Rte. 12), Sterling. A funeral service for Ruth will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 25 at the First Church in Sterling, 6 Meetinghouse Hill Road, Sterling, with burial following in Hillside Cemetery, Clinton Road (Rte. 62), Sterling.
