HOLDEN, Mass. – Mary T. (Moreau) Brennan, 91, of Mt. Pleasant Avenue, died peacefully on Saturday, Oct. 6, 2012, in the presence of her loving family at UMass Memorial Healthcare, University Campus, Worcester.
Born and raised in Worcester, Mary was the daughter of Francis J. and Teresa V. (Conroy) Moreau and lived 59 years in the Jefferson section of Holden. Her beloved husband of 47 years, Vincent P. Brennan, died in 1994.
She leaves her children, Peter V. Brennan of Holden, Nicole M. McCarthy and her husband William of Winchester, Teresa M. Reidy of Holden, Rita Brennan Olson and her husband Jerry of Holden, Jacqueline R. Brennan of North Brookfield, Deborah A. Brennan and her husband Andrew Rapp of Portland, Connecticut, and Elizabeth Brennan and her husband Thomas Dufault of Rutland; her grandchildren, Jennifer, James, Danielle, BethAnne, Jessie, Elise, Zachary, Patrick, Elizabeth, Katie, Lee, Catherine, and Julia; her great-grandchildren, Aidan, Brendan, Eileen, Simone, Ben James, Lily, Hannah, Bridget, Jack, Bella and Emma; many nephews and nieces. Besides her husband and parents, Mary is predeceased by her brother, John F. Moreau and her son-in-law, James Reidy.
Mary graduated from South High School in 1939 and Worcester State Teachers College in 1944 with a degree in teaching. She was a member of St. Mary’s Church in Jefferson and served on its Bereavement Committee for several years. She was a committed volunteer at the Holden Senior Center, was a member of the Friends of the Holden Council on Aging, and was recognized last year for her 25 years of dedicated service at the center.
She will be remembered by family and friends for her selfless nature and acts of kindness. Mary taught everyday life lessons to her family by setting an example through her devoted faith, unwavering optimism and unconditional love. She will be lovingly missed by her grand and great-grandchildren with whom she spent so many happy occasions in her later years.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 11, at the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. Honoring Mary’s Christian life, a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 12, at St. Mary’s Church, 114 Princeton Street, Jefferson. Interment will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery, 1326 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden.
