Obituary: Emily Mary (Potter) Hedgepeth, 70

WORCESTER, Mass. - Emily Mary (Potter) Hedgepeth, 70, of 77 Kilbourn Road, died Thursday, October 4, 2012 in Clinton Hospital, after being stricken ill at home.

She leaves her loving husband of 52 years, Gordon E. Hedgepeth, and their children, Gordon E. Hedgepeth, Jr. of Holden, Gina M. Nosek of South Lancaster, Jessica L. Mason of Desoto, WI, and Jonathan O. Hedgepeth of South Lancaster; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; four sisters: Dorothy Belanger, wife of Raymond, of Granby, Rose Egan of Worcester, Jude Cote of Southbridge, and Elizabeth Moore of Boylston; a brother, George Potter of Ocala, FL; several nieces and nephews.

Emily was born in Worcester, daughter of the late George and Mary (Blash) Potter, and was raised in Clinton. She was a 1960 graduate of Clinton High School, and had been a resident of South Lancaster since 1964.

A member of the National Audubon Society, and animal rights activist, Emily was also an avid arborist and gardener. She enjoyed extensive traveling, camping, and was a collector of items of many interests.

She will forever be missed by her family and beloved husband. God has a very special plan in store for her. God grant her peace.

Emily’s funeral will be held on Saturday, Oct.6, 2012 from the McNally & Watson Funeral Home, 304 Church St., Clinton, with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. John the Evangelist Church, 80 Union St., Clinton. Burial will follow in Eastwood Cemetery, Lancaster. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a calling hour on Saturday morning, from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m., prior to the funeral Mass.
