Obituary: Columbus “Cole” Andrews, 77

PAXTON, Mass. – Columbus “Cole” Andrews, 77, died after a stay at the Beth Israel Medical
Center in New York City. He was born in the small Georgia town of Cordele, the son of
Wilson and Grace L. Andrews, and grew up in Newark, NJ.

Mr. Andrews is survived by his beloved wife of 40 years, Helen M. (Raymond) Andrews
of Paxton; two sons, Phillip R. Thomas of Holden and Douglas A. Andrews of Gardner;
a daughter, Helen S. Plant of Ware; two brothers, James and Isaiah Andrews; a sister,
Lillian Hipps of New Jersey; his grandchildren, Nicholas Ryan Plant, Matthew and Aiden
Plant, Jamari Ethan Andrews, Kara Andrews and Andre Moore; and several nephews and
nieces.

After graduating high school, Mr. Andrews enlisted in the United States Marine Corps,
proudly serving in the Korean War. He later worked as a supervisor for Johnson and
Johnson Co., and previously worked for the Otis Elevator Co. for many years. Mr.
Andrews attended the Revival Center Church in Carteret, NJ where he leaves many dear
friends.

A funeral service for Mr. Andrews will be held on Thursday, Sept. 6, 2012 at 10:30
a.m. at the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. Interment will
be held at 2 p.m. at the Massachusetts National Veteran’s Cemetery in Bourne.
