Obituary: Howard W. “Howie” Eucker, 84

WORCESTER, Mass. - Howard W. “Howie” Eucker, 84, of Worcester, died peacefully Monday, Dec. 10, 2012 in the Worcester Medical Center, St. Vincent Hospital surrounded by his loving family.

Howie is survived by his devoted family; his wife of 60 years Irene (Celularo) Eucker, a son Mark Eucker and his wife Connie of Woodstock CT. a son in law Gary Keefe of Paxton, five adoring grandchildren; Amy Keefe, Kevin Keefe and his wife Julie, Scott Keefe, Erica Sullivan and her husband Sean, Kimberly Sepuka and her husband Jared, and eight great grandchildren, nephews, nieces, and great nephews and great nieces. A brother Richard Eucker, and a sister Darlene Krumsick. Howie was predeceased by his daughter Marianne Keefe who passed away in 2004, and three brothers also predeceased him.

Howard was born October 19, 1928 in South Dakota son of the late Alvin and Gertrude (Schryvers) Eucker and lived in Valentine, Nebraska most of his youth, he was a graduate of Valentine High School. Howie served in the United States Army during WWII. For many years Howie worked for the Fran Cel Catering Company, and also worked as a machinist for the Reed Rolled & Thread Company in Holden for many years before he retired. Howard attended Our Lady of Loreto Church for many years, and was a member of the Pope John Council XXII Knights of Columbus.

Howard was a genuine family man who loved being with all his family, especially the grand and great grand kids! He was a history buff, and loved his New England sports teams. Howie will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

Howie’s funeral will be held Friday, Dec.14, from the Mercadante Funeral Home & Chapel,  370 Plantation St. with a Mass of Christian burial at 11 a.m. in the Church of Our Lady of Loreto, 33 Massasoit Rd. Calling hours in the funeral home are 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday. Interment will be in St Johns Cemetery.
