WORCESTER, Mass. - Anthony E. Roy, 94, of Notre Dame du Lac Assisted Living and formerly of Holden, died on Thursday, May 10, 2012, in the Jewish Healthcare Center.
Tony is survived by his wife of 66 years, Claire D. (Laurence) Roy; a son Ronald P. Roy and his wife Stacy of Millbury; three daughters, Michele P. Roy and her significant other Leo Bullard of Worcester, Jeanine M. Stern and her husband Stephen of North Haven, CT and Suzanne M. Alarie and her husband Donald of Sturbridge; two brothers, Robert F. Roy and Henry F. Roy both of Worcester; six grandchildren; three great grandchildren and several nephews and nieces.
Mr. Roy was born in Lac Megantic, Quebec, Canada, son of the late Henry F. and Eugenie (Beaule) Roy and is predeceased by 3 brothers and a sister. He is a graduate of Worcester Boys Trade and served in the United States Army during World War II retiring as a Lt. Col. from the United States Army Reserve.
Anthony worked as a printer for many years at both Heffernan Press Company and for the City of Worcester School Department. He was a member of Saint Mary's Church in Jefferson, MA, American Legion Holden Post #42 and the Knights of Columbus Alhambra Council #88.
He enjoyed spending time with all of his friends at the Holden Senior Center and on the golf course with his family and friends and spent the majority of his golfing time at Pine Ridge Country Club in North Oxford.
The funeral will be held on Monday, May 14 from the Alfred Roy & Sons Funeral Home, 12 Hammond Street with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in Saint Mary's Church, 114 Princeton Street Jefferson. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery, Worcester. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, May 13 from 5 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home.
