HOLDEN, Mass. — Jake Bratkon, a Monty Tech student from Holden, was killed in a car accident Wednesday afternoon.
At around 9 p.m. Montachusett Regional Vocational Technical High School Principal Nicholas DeSimone sent out a pre-recorded message to students and parents notifying them of the accident.
The message stated:
"Unfortunately, this afternoon, one of our students, Jacob Bratkon, was killed in a car accident. At this time, very few details have been made available to us. In preparation for meeting the needs of students, the crisis management team has identified the library media center as an extended counseling site"
Throughout the day tomorrow and Friday, the school will have counselors available for those in need.
Holden and Princeton police referred inquiries about the incident to the Worcester District Attorney's office. Stay with TheDailyHolden.com as more information is released.
Two Facebook groups have already been created in Bratkon's memory, with friends and schoolmates sharing their memories of him and expressing their condolences to the Bratkon family.
Posts refer to Bratkon as always having a smile on his face, and being the biggest Celtics fan they knew.
One open group, R.I.P Jake Bratkon, was created by a fellow student after the principal's notification was sent out, and was "dedicated to a best friend that I lost today, he was a great kid and I miss him already. My thoughts and prayers are with your family Jake, you are in a better place now"
Another classmate wrote: "R.I.P you will be greatly remembered in everyones hearts including mine♥ you were a great kid and it unbelievable how someone you just saw can be gone with a snap of a finger."
