HOLDEN, Mass. — As snow covers Holden and Wachusett Mountain prepares to open this weekend, Davis Hill Elementary's PTA is once again helping families prepare for a new season of outdoor activities with its annual winter sports swap on Saturday.
Each year the Davis Hill gymnasium is transformed into a vast marketplace of winter sports equipment as part of a fund-raiser for the Parent Teacher Association, with all items sold on consignment and 20 percent of the proceeds going to fund ongoing Class Enrichment Programs.
Furthermore, as much of the equipment is brought in from families with children, PTA secretary Kathy Dixon said the event often gives parents better luck finding kid-size equipment than other swaps.
Residents are invited to come in and peruse the skis, boots, snowboards, hockey skates, ice skates, and more that will be available in the school's gymnasium.
The winter sports swap will be held from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday.
Persons with items they would like to sell on consignment can bring them to the school on Friday, between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m.
