HOLDEN, Mass. — The Worcester County District Attorney's office confirmed that Jake Bratkon, 18, of Lowell Road in Holden, was killed yesterday in a car accident in Princeton.
At approximately 3 p.m. Wednesday afternoon, Bratkon was travelling uphill when he failed to make a right turn and the 2002 Ford Taurus station wagon he was operating went off the road.
Bratkon was the driver and the only person involved in the accident.
He was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Tim Connolly, spokesperson for Worcester County District Attorney Joseph Early Jr.
It is yet unclear what the vehicle struck, and though the roads were slick with rain, the accident is still under investigation to determine any additional causing factors. The State Medical Examiner has accepted the case.
Bratkon was a senior at Montachusett Regional Vocational Technical School.
At around 9 p.m. on Wednesday, Montachusett Regional Vocational Technical High School Principal Nicholas DeSimone sent out a pre-recorded message to students and parents notifying them of the accident.
The school's crisis management team has identified the library media center as an extended counseling site, and throughout today and Friday, the school will have counselors available for those in need.
