WESTBOROUGH, Mass. - Westborough High School grad and Grafton resident Eric Dittelman has wowed judges again on NBC's "America's Got Talent" during a live broadcast Tuesday night.
After declaring, "Howie, I'm coming for you," Dittelman took a page from host Howie Mandel's Show "Deal Or No Deal" and used his so-called mind reading prowess to have to talent show's judges choose a winning briefcase.
After Mandel chose the correct briefcase, radio shock-jock and host Howard Stern exclaimed, "Dittelman, Dittelman, Dittealman! ... What a night of television. One of my favorite acts and you get better and better and better. If you don't vote for him there's something wrong with you."
Mandel said, "You are the real deal."
Host Sharon Osborne said, "After tonight, the whole of America will still be talking about Dittelman tommorw. Just remember: Dittelman."
Dittelman said that he was always into shows by magician David Copperfield, but noted that mindreading was a challenge that few others could do.
When asked after his segment who would win this seaon's competition, Dittelman refused to speculate, stating, "I can't ruin the surprise."
The show broadcast live from the New Jersey Performing Arts Center, and was the quarter-final in the series.
Twelve acts competed on Tuesday, including Dittelman, a man who shot himself out a cannon, a clogging dance troupe, and a 10-year-old Mariachi singer, among others. Only four will move\ on to the next round and for the $1 million grand prize.
Since Tuesday morning, messages of support have flooded one of Dittelman's Facebook fanpages.
"Give 'em hell, Dittleman! You're going to be great!" posted Kristina Smarz on Tuesday before the competition.
"I'm gonna vote my face off!!" posted Chelle Zaretzky.
There are a number of ways of voting which are listed on NBC's website and through a Facebook app. You can vote up to ten times per method.
Dittelman graduated from Westborough High School in 2003, according to his Facebook fan page. He has previously been touring comedy clubs and colleges with his act, with what he calls a "unique blend" of magic, improv, and standup comedy.
Dittelman began performing while attending Ithaca College, performing with different improv and sketch comedy troupes. His online biography reads, in part: "He ... continues to share his unique talents with audiences across the country. If you were also a mind reader, you would have already known all that."
In a segment before his audition on America's Got Talent, Dittelman said, "I got started into magic when I was little, but as I got older, I got more fascinated with the psychology aspect, and wanted to ... figure out what people were thinking."
