HOLDEN, Mass. — Summer in Holden hits full swing when the Mood Elevators bring their World war II-era swing and boogie-woogie sound to the bandstand Sunday.
Tthe trio of singers and a five-piece band will kick off the Summer Concert Series at 6 p.m. on the bandstand outside the Holden Senior Center at 1130 Main St.
Evoking the spirit of the Andrews Sisters, the vocal trio includes Chris Towle (mezzo), Karen Tyo (alto) and Ginny Briggs (soprano), who founded of The Mood Elevators in 1996.

All concerts in the summer series are free and open to the public. In case of rain, the concerts will be moved into the Senior Center.
The schdeule for the 2012 concert series includes:
July 8 - Mood Elevators: 1930s and '40s swing sung by a three-part women's vocal trio, backed by a five-piece band.
July 15 - Wachusett Community Band: Local musicians playing a variety of popular and orchestral selections.
July 22 - Rachel Landry: Country music.
July 29 - Rick Barron & the Quavers: Rock and country classics.
August 5 - Cool-Hand Blues: Rhythm & Blues.
August 12 - Kats 'N Jammers: 15-piece big band playing the classics from the '30s and '40s.
August 19 - Jumpin Juba: 1960s, '70s and '80s hits, including Contemporary Top 40, country, pop and rock.
