What To Do In Holden This Weekend

HOLDEN, Mass. — Families will have plenty to do in and around Holden this weekend, including a fundraiser for the Be Like Brit foundation and a Civil War re-enactment in Worcester featuring Holden participants. To see a full listing of upcoming Holden happenings, check out our events page.

Saturday, Oct. 13

Board of Selectman: 8 a.m. Selectmen will meet to discuss their various FY13 goals, which includes the sale of the former police station, developing a plan for I & I reduction for water and sewer systems and including two replacement police cruisers in the capital budget. Starbard Building 1204 Main Street

Civil War Reenactment and Living History: Watch civil war re-enactments and learn about the important period in American history. The family-centered event for all ages is free and will include military encampments, portrayals or regiments and historical figures, as well as a North vs. South “Town Ball” game competition. Click for more information. Green Hill Park, Worcester. 

Taste Of Italy Dinner: 6 p.m. The menu will include meatballs, sausage, stuffed shells, two types of pasta and red and Alfredo sauce, garlic bread and salad, with cannoli for dessert.  Guests are invited to bring a donation of canned food or other non-perishable items for the Wachusett Food Pantry. $10 (free for children under 12) Chaffin Congregational Church, 155 Shrewsbury St. 

Sunday, Oct. 14. 

Be Like Brit Bike Ride: 8 a.m. registration. Ride starts at 9 a.m. Proceeds benefit Britney Gengel's poorest of the poor fund. Choose from four different routes starting at Wachusett Regional High School. Click for more information.

Holden Public Safety Day: 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. The Holden Fire and Police Department welcomes local families to a free open house Sunday at the Public Safety Building. The event will include a vehicle extrication demonstration, fire extinguisher training, emergency vehicle displays and pizza. 1370 Main St.
