SHREWSBURY, Mass. — Dance to the sound of live big band music while helping out Shrewsbury's fragrant garden for the blind.
Steppin' Out - An Evening of Music and Dance with the Dick Campo Big Band will be at 7 p.m., Oct. 28, at Mechanics Hall in Worcester.
Tickets are $50 and include a night of music and dance with ball room dance demonstrations, as well as hors d'oeuvres and desserts. A cash bar will open at 6:30 p.m. Free lessons from the Arthur Murray Dance Studio will be offered at 6:30 p.m. as well.
The Fragrant Garden is a non-profit whose purpose is to oversee the development and maintenance of a public garden in Shrewsbury for the benefit of the blind and visually impaired. It was formed by the Shrewsbury Garden Club.
It will be planted at Dean Park and provide a sensory experience, using fragrant flowers such as lavender and eucalyptus. Plants such as shrubs, trees, and herbs will provide touch-sensory stimulation.
The garden is being especially built for the blind and visually impaired, but anyone can enjoy it.
