Area Synagogue Welcomes All For High Holy Days

AUBURN, Mass. – Temple Sinai in Worcester is getting ready for the High Holy Days with services for Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur.

Temple Sinai, located at 661 Salisbury St., is a reform congregation that offers children and adult services for the two important holidays on the Jewish calendar.  

Rosh Hashana services (the Jewish New Year) will be held Sept. 16-18 and Yom Kippur services (the Day of Atonement) will be held Sept. 25-26.

There are no tickets for the services, and the public is welcome to attend. The morning services tend to get busy, so attendees should arrive about 20 minutes before the start time.  

Rosh Hashana schedule:

Sunday, Sept. 16: Erev Rosh Hashana, evening service, 8 p.m.

Monday, Sept. 17: Morning liturgy, 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Family Service, 2-2:45 p.m.

Tuesday, Sept. 18: Combined service at the Abraham & Mae Persky Sanctuary at Temple Emanuel (located at 280 May St.)

Full liturgy morning service, 10 a.m.
Tashlich (casting of sins), 1 p.m. at Coes Pond Beach, Mill Street.

Yom Kippur schedule:

Tuesday, Sept. 25: Kol Nidre, Erev Yom Kippur, 7:30 p.m. Combined service at Temple Emanuel.

Wednesday, Sept. 26:

Morning service, 10 a.m. to noon
Rabbi’s program, 12:15 to 1 p.m.
Family service, 1:15 to 2 p.m.
Meditation and healing service, 3:15 to 4 p.m.
Afternoon Torah reading, 4:15 to 5:15 p.m.
Memorial (Yizkor), 5:15 to 5:45 p.m.
Conclusion (Nei’lah through Havdalah), 5:45 to 6:30 p.m.

There will be a breakfast for all in the Temple Social Hall following the conclusion Havdalah ceremony.

Temple Sinai also offers child care for morning services on Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur at no charge.
